The two candidates for Texas Railroad Commission made a rare joint appearance in Fort Worth today. Republican David Porter and Democrat Jeff Weems spoke for about a half-hour apiece at a forum sponsored by the Texas Prosperity Project and the TCU Energy Institute.
It's an important election for people who live in the Barnett Shale, because the Railroad Commission oversees the oil and gas industry. It's been criticized for sloppy inspections and a cushy relationship with the energy industry. (Read more here: Many wells go uninspected 30% in Tarrant have not seen state screening)
