Arlington council set to vote on park land gas lease
The Arlington City Council is set to vote Tuesday on a park land gas lease that would bring Arlington more than $1.4 million in bonus money.
The lease with Carrizo Oil & Gas would be for about 95 acres of public land near the University of Texas at Arlington, including Johnson Creek Linear Park, Fielder Park, Doug Russell Park, and Arlington Cemetery. In addition to the bonus money, the city would receive 25.5 percent royalties.
The city already has signed gas well leases on more than 4,100 acres of public land, which has brought $42.7 million in bonus money, said Roger Venables, the city's real estate manager.
