Roy tells teammate he didn't fit defense
In an interview Thursday with Sirius NFL Radio, Cowboys linebacker Greg Ellis revealed some stunning things about strong safety Roy Williams. He said Williams told him at the start of last year's training camp that he wasn't a good fit for Wade Phillips' 3-4 defense. The signs of this played out during the season as his role was diminished. With teams going to more three receiver sets, Phillips reduced Williams on the field to get better coverage matchups.
Ellis also said Williams has isolated himself from the rest of the team. Ellis said when he arrives at Valley Ranch at 7:30 a.m. to workout Williams is usually leaving.

I find it interesting to watch the two biggest excuse makers following Bill Parcells' departure, Julius Jones and Roy Williams, continue to come up with new excuses for poor play. First the problem was Parcells, now it's Wade's defense.

It quite apparent to me that Roy has lost the desire to play. He was known for the big hit and big play at Oklahoma (just ask Chris Simms) and his first couple of years in the league. When was the last time the crowd went wild with one of Roy's hits? I wish Roy would rededicate himself to football the way he dedicated himself to his faith.

We should keep Roy Williams.
