If I was their lawyer, I would use the defence that they are not adults. Adults would know, that filming your crime, gaurantees you time.
They really don't get it do they? The internet is not anonomous.

What a shame that these teens will have a record for the rest of their live's.
I feel that the parents should be charged also.

I don't think it's a shame that these kids are going to jail, I think it's exactly what they deserve. They weren't being silly or playful; they were being cruel to another person. What if this victim is partially blinded for the rest of her life? And not to mention the emotional and mental damage she's going to sustain due to the substantial beating she received.

This is ridiculous; these kids are far old enough to know better, they just didn't realize the repercussions of their actions. As the daughter of a Juvenile Probation Counselor and a student going to school for Criminal Justice, these kids are getting off easy. We all know they won't serve life, and that most of them will be placed in juvenile facilities until they're old enough to be in state prison. Not to mention that they'll probably all get reduced sentences anyway.

What would have happened had they killed the girl? Would you have less sympathy for them then? Wouldn't it have been easier for her to die, than live the rest of her life with PTSD, fear, anxiety, depression and public humiliation? You think she isn't angry, and embarrassed?

It's ridiculous to even consider charging the parents, at that age children are going to do just about anything they want to, and half the time the actions that they take are only on behalf of the "Leaders of the Pack". What the world is coming to today is that parents on average are raising two type of children; Herders or sheep; leaders or followers. When you raise a leader, a child who others look up to for advice and guidance, it becomes your responsibility to teach them how to be kind and understanding, giving them a foundation to base themselves on through leading by example. But after a certain point, children become responsible for their own actions.

You can only control another human so much before they're going to break free and do what their emotion and willfulness inclines.

I hope every one of them is punished to the full extent of the law; it's no less than they deserve. This is supposed to be a civilized nation, it's time to start taking out the trash.

Fayne, I'm not as hardcore as you are about teenagers. I still feel that the parents that raised them should be held accountable also. These kids just don't have a clue about whats going to happen to them and
it really is a shame not only for them but the poor girl that was beaten. I wish her a speedy recovery and hope and prey she can put this behind her and live a normal live.
