Ouch! Texas fan sues OU fan over bar fight injuries

Brian Thomas says that Allen Michael Beckett caused him great injury and pain and now Thomas wants to put a little hurt in Beckett's bank account.

And, even though we usually don't write about civil lawsuits in this crime blog, this story drew a lot of interest when we wrote about it in 2007.

Thomas -- a University of Texas fan -- is suing Beckett -- a University of Oklahoma fan -- over injuries he said he received in an Oklahoma City bar fight in which Thomas says Beckett grabbed his groin and wouldn't let go, tearing his scrotum.

The injuries are "serious, painful and potentially permanent,” according to a civil lawsuit filed Thursday in Oklahoma County District Court, The Oklahoman reported.

Beckett says he was only defending himself. He is awaiting trial in December on a felony charge of aggravated assault and battery.
