Arlington man's Web site advocates gun control after TMS shooting
An Arlington man has taken his campaign against large caliber weapons to the Internet after his wife was wounded by a stray bullet (left) at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday.
The site, 50caldanger.org, opened Tuesday, according to WHOIS information. The site is operated by Mel Moss, whose wife was struck by the stray bullet at TMS.
A Benbrook man who was target shooting near the location came forward earlier in the week, but ballistic tests haven't confirmed that he shot the bullet.
Moss wrote on the site that he has talked with the Benbrook man and that "he is a person of good character and high morals."
"... I will withhold judgment until I hear confirmation that the gun that round came from has been found."
The woman who was struck, Kerry “Jill” King, 62, told her story to staff writer Alex Branch for Tuesday's Star-Telegram.
Moss also posted a detailed account of the incident on his site.

It was an accident. Get over it! You want to ban rifles? I say ban motor homes - more people in the US are KILLED by motor home accidents than by lawfully owned 50 cal rifles!

I'm an avid target shooter and hunter, I agree that 50 caliber weapons need to be confined to military uses only. There's no reason for a civilian to be shooting this weapon. We have plenty of recreational firearms to choose from!

This is truly sad. I hope his wife recovers.
But, I need to ask, how many people are killed in and by motorhomes every year?
What right does he have to own a gas-guzzling, polluting, and unsightly vehicle like a motorhome?
Was he properly licensed to own and operate a motorhome?
What about extra certifications for motorhomes beyond a certain size?
People who say that current motor vehicle laws are adequate are ignoring the huge size and great social dangers of motorhomes that require extra laws due to their inherent dangers.

I was at the race on sunday and never heard anything about the accident until the next day. Its sad that this happened but it was a accident. Personaly I'm glad that it hit a adult and not a child that was there. If a child was hit they would have been killed. A 50 caliber should be for military only but some people get ahold of things like this. Bottom line it was a accident. The man came forward and admited that it could have been him that did it. just be thankful you alive and a child was not killed.
