Patience is a virtue, particularly if you're waiting to be sentenced in a courtroom.
Staff Writer Martha Deller writes about an Azle man whose lawyer says panicked Wednesday while awaiting his sentence on a drug-related charge and left the court building before the sentence was read.
He go probation and wasn't going to prison, but didn't know it.
At least not until he was eventually involved in a high-speed chase with police officers who had been notified to find him. He was back in court on Thursday and had 180 days in jail added to that probation.
"He told me, 'I fouled up, didn't I," said lawyer Jim Shaw. "I said, 'Yea, legally you probably did."
