U.S. Magistrate Judge Charles Bleil ordered that Sheldon Fernandes, who is attending UT-Arlington on a student visa, be detained after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents found child pornography on one of his computers, according to Jacks’ office. The images were downloaded from the Internet.
During a Dec. 15 search of his residence, Fernandes initially ssaid that he had never viewed or downloaded child pornography videos onto his personal computers. However, ICE agents found more than 100 videos of child pornography on his computer’s external hard drive.

Authorities continue to forensically examine his computers, which were seized, according to Jacks’ office.
Fernandes could receive between five and 20 years if convicted of receiving the pornography and up to 10 years in prison for possession of child pornography. Both offenses carry a fine of $250,000.
