Police: Mom tried to poison son with saltwater solution

Pittsburgh police have arrested a Tennessee woman who they said tried to poison her 4-month-old son at a hospital by injecting a saltwater solution into his feeding tube.

They've charged her with attempted homicide.

The boy is in critical condition with sodium poisoning at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, police said. They identified the mother as Amber Brewington, 21. The boy had become ill at a Nashville hospital and was later transferred to Pittsburgh, police said.

Brewington also has been charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Prosecutors: Teen filmed herself trying to kill parents

A then 15-year-old British schoolgirl took home movies to a whole new level when, prosecutors say, she filmed herself trying to kill her parents in the family's living room.

The girl, now 16, is on trial at Cambridge Crown Court where the video was played today.

Here is what prosecutors contend happened on Feb. 24, 2007:

First, the girl attempted to strangle her mother as she sat at a computer. She also had armed herself with scissor to stab her father with in case he came to his wife's defense. He did and the girl attempted to stab him.

The girl pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges and she also pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle her mother with intent and attempting to unlawfully wound her father with intent.
