Police: Mom tried to poison son with saltwater solution
Pittsburgh police have arrested a Tennessee woman who they said tried to poison her 4-month-old son at a hospital by injecting a saltwater solution into his feeding tube.
They've charged her with attempted homicide.
The boy is in critical condition with sodium poisoning at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, police said. They identified the mother as Amber Brewington, 21. The boy had become ill at a Nashville hospital and was later transferred to Pittsburgh, police said.
Brewington also has been charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
