Wisconsin high court: Sex with dead bodies is illegal
The Wisconsin Supreme Court wants to make one thing perfectly clear: It's illegal to have sex with a corpse.
There had been some confusion after lower courts ruled that state law did not specifically outlaw the act. Those rulings were in the case of three men who were accused of digging up a corpse so they could have sex with it. They're were initially charged with attempted sexual assault.
The ruling reinstates the charges against the three.
The court said a dead person obviously can't give their consent for sex and that's an element of state law. If you'd like to read more about the Wisconsin necrophilia ruling, go here. Wisconsin now joins 20 other states that implicitly outlaw necrophilia or abuse of a corpse.
