Teen dies when her car hits a pole

A 17-year-old Southlake girl died after the car she was driving struck a pole and rolled over Friday evening in the 2500 block of north White Chapel Boulevard.

No one else was injured.

Erin Omoss was pronounced dead at the scene about 9:20 p.m., said Cpl. Mike Bedrich. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash, officials said.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Video shows fatal minivan-train collision

Police in Hammond, Ind., are investigating a tragic crash in which they say a woman driving a minivan attempted to beat a train by driving through a parking lot to a rail crossing, but was struck by a second train coming the other direction. The impact killed two of her children. Police are using a dramatic video taken by security cameras in their investigation. View the video here.

There's a body in the back windshield

Always look behind you before backing up. That might have helped a man in California who is facing gross vehicular manslaughter charges after backing out of a parking lot and colliding with a speeding motorcyle. The man, who police suspect of being drunk, took off and found a surprise when he got home -- the body of the motorcyclist wedged in his back window.

Fatal crash may have roots in road rage

Police have arrested two people in connection with a fatal crash in Grand Prairie that may have started at an Arlington club before taking to the streets. One car ended up wrecked against a power pole, leaving one person dead and the area without power.
