War in Iraq

It's not luck when you work hard

You may have thought we were pretty smart or pretty lucky today when we had an interview with Army Brig. Gen. Joseph Anderson, the chief of staff for Multinational Corps Iraq. It's hard to call it luck or good work when the subject is as troubling as the mass casualties. Reporter Chris Vaughn says it was neither luck nor hard work, but both. Chris had set up the interview yesterday some time ago. Even then it took lots of calls back and forth to overcome logistics, access etc. So when the interview finally came, readers had the opportunity to hear a timely perspective from the top. Chris says Gen. Anderson readily agreed to talk about the attacks.

First Dude?

There's a blockbuster on 1A today, but sometimes it's the little tidbits that make a morning's paper interesting. Today, we've got one on 4A, also here. In the UK that would be, uh, Your Highness, Sir?

And it's tempting to say something about this one  but I'll leave that to the Kingpin.

At the morgue ...

Here's a note we got from our Washington Bureau this week:

If you have not read the most recent posting on Inside Iraq, the blog by our Iraqi staff in Baghdad, you should. It might also be worth telling your readers about as well.

(Careful. It's pretty graphic. And very, very sad.)
