Here's a tip if you're thinking about stealing a computer from the Fort Worth school district, don't. Laptops and desktops are being installed with the LoJack recovery technology that recently led to the return of one computer. In October, a teacher at Polytechnic High School had a $1,500 laptop stolen when she was in a meeting. Then late last month, police were able to use the technology to track the computer. A student is being questioned about the laptop.
"This is notice that if you steal our computers, we will find them and prosecute you," said Kyle Davie, the district's chief technology officer. The district pays about $50 per computer for LoJack. If the technology doesn't locate the stolen item, the company gives the district $1,000.
