Judge nixes rebel purses

Rebelpurse_2 Rebel purses are still a no-no at Burleson High School _ for awhile longer at least. Two Burleson teens who challenged the school district's ban on the Confederate battle flag on anything from clothes to jewelry have graduated and a third teen will probably graduate before their federal case winds its way through the federal courts. A well-known advocate for southern rights hopes the case will establish new law on the issue. Read more about it.

Burleson censorship story spreads

The campaign by Burleson teen Megan Estes to get a story on teen parenthood published in the school yearbook she edits is no longer just a local story. The Virginia-based Student Press Law Center, which helps young journalists assert their First Amendment rights, has published its own story about Estes and her conflict with Burleson school administrators.
