Cuban: "Still breathing"

Well, the potential trade for Jason Kidd might be on life support, but owner Mark Cuban just chimed in with an email to say that it's "still breathing," with nothing new to report.

I also had a chance encounter with Nets president Rod Thorn in the Marriott Hotel elevator and he shook his head and said, "We're not there yet."

Clearly, both teams want this deal to happen, but it remains unclear if there's too much baggage from this thing to get done. With the All-Star game approaching in a few hours, it's likely nothing more will be done today, which really gets the clock ticking down to Thursday's deadline.

Stay tuned.

Somebody please yank the respirator on this already. The longer it goes on, the more mentally worn the four or five included Mavs become. Let it die already!

It's done -- see Mark Stein update at 7:20pm -- Hassell and VanHorn subbed for George and stack.

In Rod we trust -- pull off the Miller trade! Or something just as good!!

No, it isn't done...yet. It's "imminent" again, which is exactly what they said before all these road blocks went up. When I see Jason Kidd holding up a Mavericks uniform next to Mark Cuban, then I say it's done. Then, I will slump away in defeat and vomit.
