Suddenly March 4 doesn't seem so late...

Who could have seen this coming?

Well, Royal Masset for one. Last March, when all of Austin was trying to move up the date of the primary, Masset, a Republican consultant and former political director of the Texas Republican Party, was telling anyone who would listen that Texas' primary date should stay put.

"To me it’s not a close call,"  Masset told the Star-Telegram last March. "Obviously we’d have more negotiating power later on."

But if Masset's still on his game, then the suspense is over - he wrote in Quorum Report yesterday that Clinton and McCain already have the nominations sewn up.
