It’s 3 a.m. The red phone is ringing. My kids are sound asleep. Even the dog is snoring. Suddenly, a voice punctures the steely silence.
“Please stand by for Hillary Clinton,’’ the voice says.
Or not.
Through the gauzy haze of my subconsciousness I can make out the silouhette of a recurring, painful truth: it’s another bad dream, the same one I’ve been experiencing for three days running now. The phone isn’t ringing. I don't even have a red phone. And my “exclusive” with the former first lady has been canceled. Again.
I look at my watch and it’s actually 8 a.m. on Monday, the day before the crucial Texas election. Time is running out, and, after getting bumped for an interview Saturday, after waiting for four hours in my office on Sunday. After getting up at the crack of dawn today with a smile on my face, I ask the burning question: Will the Star-Telegram ever get an interview with the senator from New York?
“Just stand by throughout the day,’’ comes the response.
I’ve been stood up more in the last three days than my entire senior year at Liberty High School. I feel so, so ... rejected and denounced. And yet, like an emotional teenager, I wait.
C’mon, senator. Call me: 512-476-4294.

But you (star-telegram) endorsed Obama. It's understandable she won't returned your call... besides your nobody special

I don't blame the Senator for not calling... every media out there has found a way to bash her, just as you did now!!
After so many years we thought the world has change, in reality it has not... seems like a lot of people including the media is scared to give a woman a chance. It's time for change, it's time for a woman to be Commander in Chief!!

Both Democratic campaigns and the McCain campaign have ignored local media. I work for two weekly papers. Sorry, your experience is nothing special or unusual. They are focused on the national media....despite the fact that the Washington Post won't get them many votes in Cowtown.

I must assume that this is just like
her stance on meeting with leaders
of foreign countries whom she does
not approve of, or who do not
approve of her, ... or maybe it
is just ANYBODY who really challenges
and questions her? .... and is that
the sort of person we want LEADING
our country? ... she will refuse to
speak to ANYONE who doesnt do what
she wants ... and is that going to
be an effective person in the
whitehouse .... lol ...
i think not, folks, i think NOT,
and of course, one of her paid staff
logs on and says "your newspaper is
not important (because you didnt
support her)" ... yeah, and where
is their spirit of ....
"EVERYONE IS IMPORTANT!!"
QUESTION:
When are her campaign staffers
going to figure out that THEIR
ACTIONS AND WORDS reveals the
TRUE SPIRIT of the lady for
whom they work?
and is this the kind of STAFF she will
be filling the Whitehouse with?
Ahhh ... yeah, folks, it is !!!!
I am very heartened to know that
your paper supported Sen. Obama,
who has demonstrated such unfailing
honor, respect, and integrity ...
true statesmenship, ... as do
ALL of his supporters whom I
have ever met, or seen, or read about.
He BREEDS respect and care, because he
is a man of true respect, and care.
And why did she REALLY avoid the interview?
Could it be because she had something to hide?
Maybe there was a question she did not want
to answer?
Hmmm ....
And why do I suggest she lack lacks honor,
honesty and integrity?
Well, we all know this, without a doubt,
because if she had honor and integrity,
she would have released her family's
financial records, as well as, the
records of what she ACTUALLY did during
her "Whitehouse Years" PRIOR to these
primaries ... NOT AFTER !!!!
She would HAVE MADE SURE it was made public,
instead of "passing the buck" to someone
else who is to blame, ... NOT HER !!! ....
But ...
we all know why she did NOT make sure those
records were made public ... it is because
she had something to hide!
And no, folks, no one paid me to write
this. My name is Arthur, I am just a
man who care about our country, and
who cares about, simple things, like,
honor, respect, and integrity.
Yeah, I think they matter more than
the color of a man's skin, or their
gender. Yes, I would like to one day
see a female president, and yes, I
think this would be good for our
nation, but ONLY if it is a person
who is honest and genuinely cares,
... about everyone ...
These are the qualities of true statesmenship
and true experience, something she lacks on
both counts .... in spades.
Arthur,
