Adios, Pink Dome

One of Austin's first irreverant blogs that lampooned state politics and government is closing shop.

The anonymously penned "Pink Dome" posted a "Thanks for the Memories" item this morning saying the time had come to either let the site go dark or let someone else pick up the torch first lit a candle under the Capitol before the 2005 legislative session.

"The blog will stick around for archives and who knows, maybe someone will take up the mantle of being the sexy drunk blogger for Austin," Pink Dome writes above a photo, presumably of the author, sitting in a lawmaker's chair in the House chamber with his hand obscuring his face." It just won't be me anymore. If someone does convince me they have what it takes to be 'PinkDome' I hope you'll welcome them with open arms."

He signs off with a riff on one of his favorite and most enduring targets -- Gov. Rick Perry and his off-color remark to a TV reporter that was caught on video:

"Adios, Mofo."
