One more Texan for Obama

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama is boasting the pickup of one more Texas superdelegate today.

The Illinois senator's Web site reports that John Patrick, a 31-year member of the United Steelworkers Union and a Democratic National Committee member from Baytown, joined his camp and brings Obama to within 283 delegates of wrapping up the nomination.

"Senator Barack Obama has spent a lifetime standing up for American workers, and he will be a crucial voice for us in the White House," Patrick said in a statement.

The news follows the announcement that former DNC Chairman Joe Andrew of Indiana withdrew his support for New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and endorsed Obama. Andrew was appointed by President Bill Clinton to chair the national party from 1999-2000.
