From 2001 through 2006, Republicans controlled the Presidency, the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Supreme Court. In the first year, Vice President Cheney conferred with industry leaders on energy policy; later Bush made urgent energy reform a hallmark of his State of the Nation speech. Even after the Democrats took control of the Senate and House, they made it clear they would co-operate with any Bush initiatives on alternative energy sources. Increased offshore and wilderness drilling is not a serious energy plan (though offered as an emergency stopgap in transition to serious alternative sources and conservation measures, it might be considered -- which of course is exactly what Paris said).

In fact there has been only one "solution" to energy instability offered by the Bushies: invade Iraq and control its vast reservoirs of oil -- this was not an invention of their opponents, but was articulate by government spokespersons. It failed. What is going on now is one more charade by a party that does not know how to govern.

For Eight years the "Do Nothing Republicans" did not get one Green Energy bill passed to eliminate control of the American people by "Oil and Gas Corporations.
Republicans are Partisan Control and nothing else. Mental Illness at its best.
