Straus' Republican bloodline goes back to Tower, "Nixon Girls"

Straus Alamo Heights Republican Joe Straus is often described as coming from a family with "impeccable Republican credentials" without an explanation.

Here's a cogent one from, of all places, the Junior League of San Antonio website.

His mother, Joci, was chairman of the Nixon Girls and served on finance committes for former Texas Sen. John Tower, President Gerald Ford and President George H.W. Bush.

She is often described as one of former First Lady Barbara Bush's closest friends.
