City business leaders heard Tarrant County lawmakers Thursday.
A few Tarrant County lawmakers, that is.
Four Democrats showed up alongside only two Tarrant County Republicans for the most important local preview of the legislative session, the forum sponsored by the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce.
Most of the faces were completely new to the audience. Freshman Chris Turner, top left, a Burleson Democrat, compared notes with fellow freshman Mark Shelton, a Fort Worth Republican. At right and apparently caught by surprise is veteran Euless Republican Todd Smith.
The second cellphone photo is blurry -- apologies -- but that's Arlington Democrat Paula Hightower Pierson giving a hearty welcome hug to new Fort Worth Democrat Wendy Davis, the only state senator at the discussion.
Fort Worth Democrat Marc Veasey also spoke. So did a Johnson County Republican, Rob Orr.
North Richland Hills Republican Kelly Hancock came by early but did not stay to speak. Both the county's two Republican state senators missed the forum along with three Republican House representatives and one Democrat.
