Something to 'C' and hear at the Modern

Puryear You have to go back a bit to remember the heyday of minimalist composer Terry Riley, but he was a pioneer in his unique field of music. The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth plans a concert of one of Riley's early works, to tie in with its Martin Puryear exhibit. Should be interesting to see how these pieces work together. -- Robert Philpot

Timothy Potts registers low on the Snootometer

Potts_2 So says New York magazine's Vulture blog, which says that former Kimbell Art Museum director is not snooty enough to replace the departing director of the Met in New York (according to The New York Times, Potts is on the short list to replace Philippe de Montebello, whose very name says "snooty"). Potts not only isn't snooty enough; he's the least snooty of the reported candidates. --Robert Philpot

'T' for Texas -- from the NYT

Goss_2 T Style, the thick, glossy magazine that appears every few Sundays in The New York Times, has launced a new Web version (with Natalie Portman staring at you) with an edition about "art and soul." One of the stories is about Dallas' Goss-Michael Foundation, which provides a showcase for contemporary British art in Uptown Dallas. Goss is Kenny Goss; Michael is Goss' longtime companion, George Michael. There's more about the foundation here. -- Robert Philpot
