The Reaching Higher Coalition, a collection of passenger rights activists, clergy, labor and consumer groups, has launched a new site called "The Airline Oil Spin," which attempts to debunk the airline industry's arguments on oil speculation.
The major carriers, led by trade group the Air Transport Association, have been outspoken in attempts to limit oil speculation, which they claim has pushed up jet fuel prices.
On the site, the group declares that "the U.S. airline industry is wracked with problems. And the airline industry is working hard to pin all of those problems on 'oil speculators,' by creating pseudo-grassroots campaigns like their recent effort to push legislation to stop some kinds of oil speculation."
You can check out the ATA's take on the oil issue on their own site, "Stop Oil Speculation Now."

Interesting. With the airlines and wall street fighting this issue out, it is good to have a more grassroots perspective on the issue.

you'd think the airlines would work with labour to advance their DC agenda. looks like they've picked a fight with the biggest union in the US instead.
