Online travel firm Travelocity, based in Southlake, issued a release today suggesting that people who stayed at home rather than taking trips this summer "shouldn’t have been so quick to sacrifice (their) summer getaway."
The firm lists 10 cities in which the total cost of a vacation has increased no more than $20 compared to summer 2007. And the Travelocity folks blame "the media" for scaring consumers into thinking they couldn't afford a summer vacation.

Here are the cities that Travelocity says cost no more than $20 more to visit this summer than a year ago:
Atlanta: $1.64 less
Austin: $7.17 more
Boston: $6.42 more
Chicago: $19.73 more
Las Vegas: $17.29 more
Orlando: $7.20 more
San Diego: $8.89 less
Seattle: $8.17 more
South Florida: $16.29 more
Washington, DC: $19.73 more

I am really amazed that the media can actually scare and convince people into staying at home and not take a vacation ...
there are tonnes of affordable places to go to ... not just in the US .. but around the world also ... like the middle east or indian subcontinent or even south east asia..
