Stewart flying to Delta
Former Southwest Airlines spokesman Ed Stewart is taking a job at Delta Air Lines, where he will oversee all external communications. Stewart also worked at American prior to the Southwest job.
He was renown for his no-holds-barred style at Southwest, particularly on charged issues like the Wright Amendment. It will be interesting to see if he maintains that approach at Delta as that carrier becomes the world's largest airline.
Since he left Southwest, Stewart spent some time as a spokesman for Ticketmaster, and then as a media strategist and senior vice president at the Dallas office of Fleishman-Hillard. In an email he sent out to colleagues this morning, he said that "it was simply a fantastic opportunity to return to an industry that I enjoy and worked in for 18 years while at Southwest and American Airlines."
Ed has always been great to work with, and we're looking forward to harassing him once he takes over at Delta. He starts his new job on Thursday.
