Oneworld alliance adds Hong Kong's Dragonair

Dragonair The oneworld air alliance, led by American Airlines and British Airways, said Hong Kong's Dragonair will join the alliance Nov. 1. That will allow American AAdvantage customers to earn and redeem miles on Dragonair.

AA doesn't fly to Hong Kong, but serves it through Cathay Pacific, another oneworld partner. Dragonair's addition will add several Chinese cities to the oneworld map: Chongqing, Changsha, Chengdu, Fuzhou, Haikou, Kunming, Guilin, Ningbo, Nanjing, Shenyang, Sanya, and Wuhan.

Dragonair (right, at a 2005 ceremony in China) will also add Kota Kinabulu, Malaysia; Phnom Penh, Cambodia; and Phuket, Thailand, to the "alliance map," oneworld said.

Cargo boost

Img_3823 Cathay Pacific Cargo is adding another flight later this month, making its Asian service a daily operation.

Joe Lopano, the executive vice president of marketing for D/FW Airport, told the airport's board of directors this morning about the addition.

Cathay Pacific has more than doubled its service in less than two years it's been flying from D/FW. In November 2005, it started up with three cargo flights a week out of D/FW.

Tuesday through Sunday, the daily flights run from Hong Kong to D/FW Airport to Atlanta and back to Hong Kong. The Monday flight will run just the opposite route.
